AP / Payroll Specialist
Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire
Location: West Phoenix, AZ (100% Onsite)
Compensation: $24-$29/hr DOE
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00-3:30 or 7:30-4:00

Position Overview

A family-owned construction company is seeking an AP / Payroll Specialist to support a growing accounting and payroll team.

This role is approximately 50-60% Accounts Payable and 40-50% Payroll Support, making it an ideal opportunity for someone with strong AP experience who is interested in expanding their payroll knowledge. The company is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and is willing to learn.

Accounts Payable Responsibilities

  • Process vendor invoices and expense transactions
  • Review and code invoices accurately
  • Perform three-way matching of invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documents
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Work with purchasing and operations teams to resolve payment or receiving issues
  • Process utility bills, recurring expenses, and vendor invoices
  • Support month-end accounting activities
  • Maintain accurate AP records and supporting documentation

Payroll Responsibilities

  • Assist with weekly payroll processing for approximately 200 employees
  • Support payroll reporting and spreadsheet tracking
  • Work with timekeeping data and payroll records
  • Assist with payroll adjustments and payroll-related administrative functions
  • Help ensure payroll accuracy and timely processing

Required Qualifications

  • Accounts Payable experience required
  • ERP system experience required
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excel proficiency required
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Dependable attendance and willingness to learn

Preferred Qualifications

  • Construction industry experience
  • Payroll processing experience
  • Piece-rate payroll exposure
  • Deltek / ComputerEase experience or similar construction ERP systems
  • Bilingual Spanish
